Office 2010

 

Many of our employees will start using Microsoft Office 2010 this year. This is a significant change from version 2003. There are several tools which are available from the Microsoft website which will help you maneuver through the new interface. They are listed below.



2003 to 2010 guide

This guide is a great visual tool. When launched, the 2003 window opens to allow you to input a command as you know it in 2003. The window will then flip over and show you how to accomplish the same command in 2010. It is a great way to get familiar with the new ribbon.

Office 2010 - Provided By Microsoft

Various training courses that you can take that are created by Microsoft, these include:

Make The Switch To Word 2010
Make The Switch To Excel 2010
Make The Switch To PowerPoint 2010

All of the classes above are guided online trainings that give an excellent overview for a person moving from an old version of office to Office 2010. These last 30-45 minutes but will save you hours of time and frustration when learning to use the new product. The training is broken into sections, so you are able to skip a section that may not pertain to you.


Microsoft Word

Word Help And How-To:A collection of videos and instructional documents for Microsoft Word 2010 that is broken down by category. This is a great general help area with a lot of detail.
Create your first word document - Part I : a video tutorial with practice exercise that walks you through: Opening word, fixing spelling and grammar mistakes, formatting text, adding styles, save, print and closing document.
Create your first word document - Part II: a video tutorial with practice exercise that walks you through: Moving around in the document, using formatting marks, move text around in document, change line spacing and alignment.
Get control of page numbers, headers and footers.
Header and footer basics, (40 min training).


Microsoft Excel

Excel Help And How-To: A collection of videos and instructional documents for Microsoft Excel 2010 that is broken down by category. This is a great general help area with a lot of detail.
Create your first spreadsheet: A video tutorial with a practice exercise that walks you through: Creating a new spreadsheet, using math in a spreadsheet, enter and format column titles, let excel fill in some information for you, add or delete columns rows and spreadsheets, keep columns in sight as you scroll down a spreadsheet, printing options. Create formulas - Lean how to use formulas to do basic math in Excel, and how to use predefined formulas called functions to do things like calculate the amount of monthly payments.
Understanding data at a glance with conditional formatting. You can use conditional formatting to make certain data stand out, helping you to analyze data and identify patterns and trends.
